Biography

Thomas Prescott Atkinson (b. 1952), Associate Professor of Pediatrics, completed undergraduate studies at Tulane University (B.S. with Honors, Magna cum Laude) in 1975. He received a M.D. and Ph.D. degrees (Magna cum Laude) in 1987 from Emory University. Dr. Atkinson's postdoctoral training included an Internship and Residency at The Children's Hospital of Alabama (1987-89); Residency at Georgetown University Hospital (1989-90); and a Fellowship at The National Institutes of Health (NIAID) in Allergy/Immunology (1989-92) (Chief Medical Staff Fellow 1990-91). He joined the faculty at UAB in 1992 as an Assistant Profeesor in the Department of Pediatrics and serves as a full-time staff member at The Children's Hospital of Alabama.
