Dr. Fultz received her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Texas at Dallas and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School (Dallas). She held a second postdoctoral position in virology at the University of California, San Diego, as a Fellow of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Fultz began her work on HIV and AIDS in 1984 as a Visiting Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA. She enjoys music, reading, and writing poetry.
