Biography
William Koopman (b. 1945), Professor, completed his undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry at Washington and Jefferson College (B.A., summa cum laude, 1967). He completed his medical training at Harvard (M.D. magna cum laude. 1972). After residency training (Mass. Gen. Hospital. Boston, 1974), he served as Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Immunology and Microbiology at the NIH, NIDR (1974-1977). He joined the faculty at UAB in 1977 and is currently Chairman of the Department of Medicine. His hobbies include fishing and gardening.
