Biography

George M. Shaw (b. 1953) is a Professor of Hematology and Oncology (Medicine) and Microbiology. He completed his undergraduate work at Dartmouth College in 1975, his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the Ohio State University in 1980, a residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan in 1983, and postdoctoral fellowships at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Shaw joined the UAB faculty in 1985 and is Deputy Director of the UAB AIDS Center. He was named an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 1997.
