Amit Ashtekar obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Microbiology from the Garware College, University of Pune, India. He entered the Cellular and Molecular Biology Program at UAB in 2004. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Dr. Suzanne Michalek’s lab in the Department of Microbiology. Amit’s studies are focused on the development of a protective vaccine against Francisella tularensis, which is a potential biowarfare agent.
