Matthew Halpert earned his undergraduate degree at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. His B.S. included majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. Matthew entered the Microbiology Graduate Program at UAB in 2007 through the Cellular and Molecular Biology Program. His current project is focused on characterizing the role of a novel protein, TLT2, and what function it illicits in neutrophils. The endogenous ligand, signaling motif, and function of TLT2 are all yet to be determined. Matthew's mentor is Dr. Louis Justement.
