The spleen is the largest secondary lymphocyte tissue in humans and mice which plays an important role in the immune response. The marginal zone (MZ) is a special structure in the spleen between the red pulp and white pulp. Marginal zone B cells are an important subset in the marginal zone that defend against blood borne pathogens and bridge between primary and adaptive immunity. Yuying's project is mainly focused on the development of marginal zone B cells and the interplay between MZ B cells and other cell types in the marginal zone.
